A Word from the President

Hi, I’m Dave Coleman; President of Trendency Records.

We’re a brand new type of record label – one which places emphasis on the integrity of the music as well as the character of those under our umbrella. Our goal is to inject amazing (and amazingly) positive music into the culture. We’re seeking out artists/groups who wish to build up rather than destroy…people who truly care about the youth of this nation/world.

Trendency Records is a forward‐thinking record label blazing the trail based on the concepts of the “new music industry.” Our vision is to partner with artists and share the responsibilities as well as the rewards. Unlike our major label counterparts, our perspective is based in shared risk, shared investment, fiscal responsibility and Christian values. We seek to smash the mold created by the abusive record label oligarchs of old. We expect shared sacrifice, shared reward and out-of-the-box thinking from everyone involved in order to achieve our ultimate goals. We believe this is nothing short of a revolutionary, yet common sense-laden approach to making and sharing great music with the world – together as one!

Our flagship artist was Gina Green, a Neo Soul artist out of California. Her album was released back in 2006, our first year as a record label. We recently signed the legendary Gospel Rap group Gospel Gangstaz, also from California, and are currently negotiating with several other artists/groups. So there are definitely more releases to follow soon! I hope you’ll spend some time exploring the site and getting to know the artists we so proudly represent.

  1. I go by Milla The Poet. I am originally from Kansas City MO yet have been living in Austin TX for a few years. I first began rhyming being influenced by what is known as secular rap & hip hop music. That was when i found myself drifting away from spirituality and into bad influences, drama, sin, and negativity (Long story short) ok. Before that time i was attending a baptist church as a child & sunday school. After a long & rough travelled road i found myself yearning to get back on the righteous path. I was baptised as a young adult. Later started changing my lyrics to having biblical and spiritual content. I am hoping to find a outlet for the gift that i have & my music. Ultimately to spread the holy word and spirit thru the the talent that god has blessed me with. I would not want to have my talent unshared before i leave this world. I know that some self righteous people may be against this lyrical art form… I believe that it glorifys our heavenly father to share the gospel.. There is no bible scripture against sharing it in the form of hip hop with bible based lyrics… It is all about the message.. This is a good way to reach certain people or lost souls in the world with a style that they can identify with.. This is like another form of theology that should be supported instead of opposed.. So if you are a true believer show your love and support..
